"Should I have filming in my home?"

John Lewis

location management company, like find, is your 1st point of call. Within the industry, we are the point of contact between any film location and the production company. A location manager's priority is to ensure the film crew can carry out their job in the most time efficient manner, and to ensure the director has the maximum amount of creative flexibility, yet remaining within the producers financial constraints. Inevitably, in order to achieve this, we need to liaise closely with any location owners throughout the whole process.

Once a property owner has registered with us, we can then put their locations onto our database (location library), then we can start marketing their property to potential film crews. There are no personal details shown on line, just a unique reference number for your property. Once a production company has shown an interest your property via our online library, we get in touch with you and start taking you through the process step by step. Before filming a location contract is signed and the owner is paid. And the rest is down to the supervision of the on-site location manager. It really is that simple!

I have often said to property owners who are not used to filming, that there should be no surprises on the day. The location manger should have outlined exactly what is going to happen, how and when. All being well, everyone should go to plan like the well oiled machine a film crew should be. Of course, this isn't always the case. At which point the location manager steps into the breach and hopefully smooths over any problems/changes that may have occurred.

So, why should you have filming in your property? Is it safe?

In short - because you'll get paid well (from £500-£2500 per day for the right location), and yes, when managed through a reputable company like find, it is safe.

First and foremost, we never allow filming to go ahead unless the production company has at least £5 million of public liability (most generally have £10M); we always insist that all location fees are paid in advance; and a detailed location contract is drawn up outlining all elements of the filming, including an over time clause should the production run past their deadline.

Our attention to detail, thorough planning and experience means we rarely ever have any problems. And of course, in the unlikely even that we do, it's covered by either the production companies, or our, insurance.

There's really not much more to it.
