Four bedroom Victorian house with garden.
A beautiful, bright house in east London built in 1880 and tastefully restored to retain Victorian features throughout. As you enter you will see the beautiful porch tiled in majolica and the front door with intricate stained glass. There is a large kitchen diner with antique furniture and plenty of vintage cookware and tableware options. The centrepiece is the 5 burner, twin oven Lofra range, which sits opposite the vintage wooden and granite island. The floor is made of solid marble tiles and the surfaces are Rosa Portogallo marble. Solid wood cabinetry in matte Little Greene ‘Arsenic’ paint and there is ‘Setting Plaster’ on the walls.
There are new cast iron radiators throughout the house, which has just been completely re-wired too. Two bay windows and a glass door look out from the dining room onto the lovely south facing, cottage style garden which has walls on two sides. It has a reclaimed London Stock brick patio, grass lawn and raised beds which are full of flowers, vines, fruits and vegetables from spring through to autumn. There is a beautiful wrought iron garden furniture set and a wooden bench too.
The adjoining, bay fronted sitting rooms have tons of light from the restored sash windows as well as the restored original pine floorboards which run throughout the house. There are double dividing doors between the two rooms, built in bookshelves, linen cafe curtains and airy high ceilings. Upstairs the bathroom has tiled marble floors and walls, a roll top bath with shower and Victorian style fixtures. There are plenty of plants there, and throughout the house. The generous master bedroom also has a bay window with original wooden sashes, full length William Morris curtains and several more pieces of antique furniture. Beautiful and comfortable additional spaces can be found in the middle guest room and attic space, which has an additional shower and toilet facilities. The study, which is south facing, also has its own bay window and cafe curtains.
On street parking is always available and permits can be easily and cheaply arranged. There is also a stunning 1984 Mercedes 280 Coupe for hire, painted in powder blue and fully automatic. The car is pillarless so with the sun roof and all windows open it is just amazing.
